Our Building Expansion (completed at the end of 2001)
History of this Program:
- Our congregation voted in January, 1999 to approve sending a "tithe" of our $80,000 building fund to our missionaries to the gypsies in Romania (Eugen Oana) for the purpose of planting a church and buying a house for the building. This eventually became the "Biserica Baptista Credinta" (Faith Baptist Church) of Solanta, Romania. Following that, work toward our addition began in February, 1999 with our board approving the formation of our finance and building committees.
- These committees assessed the budget and expansion needs through congregational surveys, etc.
- An expansion proposal was presented to the congregation on June 13, 1999.
- The congregation voted, by an overwhelming majority, in favor of this expansion.
- We had a formal ground breaking ceremony in July, 1999, but due to situations beyond our control actual building progress was held up over the winter months.
- We submitted final plans to the city, and received their approval at the May 2000 meeting.
- Actual work was begun the first part of July 2000, and we began to use the facility in June 2001. We had a formal Dedication Service on September 9, 2001.
- We are excited to be a part of what God is doing here at Faith!
Building Results:
- A TRANSITIONAL BUILDING...This building connects the existing church building to a multipurpose building. This transitional building has the main entrance to the church and features a connecting "rampway" to the existing lobby. This transitional expansion provides the church with handicapped access, additional first floor restroom space (ADA approved), larger lobby space, basement area (currently the teen youth room) connected to the existing basement area of original building, and also a larger and new location for the kitchen area, which will be directly accessible to the multipurpose building.
- HAMMOND HALL... Named in honor of charter members Elmer and Eve Hammond (now with the Lord), this building provides a much needed area for fellowship, recreation, and children's programs (Awana, etc.). In past years we had been making the Awana program fit our church building and now it's exciting to have an abundance of room to house an officially sized Awana circle.
- PAVED and LIGHTED PARKING LOT... Many churches may take this for granted, but we have never had a completed lot until now. The lot is fully paved and lighted with over 65 parking spaces out front. These include four handicapped and two guest spaces, all located near the main entrance. This entrance is lot level, with no steps to ascend in order to enter the building.
